Waiting, Waiting, & More Waiting

Well, we were up bright and early and on the bus in time to get to the airport only to be told that our 10:30am flight had been delayed and will leave at 3pm!!  For some reason, OAT had switched our flight from LAN to the wonderful American Airlines.  Now we all sit here in Quito airport for 6 hours. Then we were told that the locator number we had for our AA flight from Miami to Boston was not right - someone else's name going to Dallas!  That's when I lost it.  The very nice guy behind the counter went in the back and somehow got it all straightened out.  In the end, we did happen to get a connecting flight to Boston and arrive at midnight instead of the scheduled 9pm.  Hope we get there.  Hope the kids can come get us.

As par for the course, our Stephanie didn't not get a connecting flight from AA because OAT had booked them on United to get to Indiana.  There was a lot of drama around that situation.  S went storming off to call OAT (another great experience when the collect emergency number wasn't really collect).  They eventually got a flight out of Miami but like many of the group, will have to stay over in Miami.

It is an unfortunate way to end a wonderful vacation.  However, at least these problems are on the way home and not cutting into our vacation. And we are all pretty miserable together which helps.  I am also grateful for the free wifi and have been able to help some folks get in touch with their connections. However, I am a bit suspicious of how OAT manages these arrangements.  Might pay them a visit in Boston when we get home.

Needless to say, there will not be any pictures connected to this post.  You do not want to see the expressions on these folks.
